Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)

Text of the ADA, Public Law 336 of the 101st Congress. The ADA was signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, programs and services provided by state and local governments, goods and services provided by private companies, and in commercial facilities. Several government agencies have authority to issue regulations implementing the ADA. These include the Department of Justice, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Transportation.
