Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Disability Rights Advocates is pleased to make available on our website and in our offices the work of artists from the National Institute of Art & Disabilities (NIAD). NIAD provides an art program that promotes creativity, independence, dignity, and community integration for people with developmental and other disabilities.

Benefits Counseling (If You Do Not Need Legal Representation at This Time)

If you have not experienced discrimination, but are having a hard time trying to figure out your benefits or insurance options, here are three sources of counseling:

1. Your local ILC provides benefits counseling. Visit the Independent Living Centers website to find an ILC near you.
2. Your local Disablity Rights California (DRC), provides benefits counseling. Inside California, call 1-800-776-5746. Outside of California, visit the NICHCY website to find a list of disability-related agencies in your state (this list will also include your state's version of Protection and Advocacy, though it may go by a different name).
3. For Medicare issues, your local HICAP (in California) or SHIP (outside of California) provides Medicare advocacy. Inside California call 1-800-434-0222. Outside of California, you may visit the Medicare website to find the phone number in your state.
