Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Disability Rights Advocates is pleased to make available on our website and in our offices the work of artists from the National Institute of Art & Disabilities (NIAD). NIAD provides an art program that promotes creativity, independence, dignity, and community integration for people with developmental and other disabilities.
Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) is a thirteen-lawyer public interest legal center located in Berkeley, California that specializes in civil rights litigation on behalf of people with disabilities. Focusing on high impact class actions, DRA's mission is to protect the rights of people with all types of disabilities and improve access to health care, housing, education, transportation and employment.
Externships and Clinical Positions for Current Law Students
Disability Rights Advocates, a growing civil rights public interest legal center in downtown Berkeley, hosts Internships and Clinical Positions for current law students who wish to gain experience while earning law school credit.
Applicants should have excellent communication and critical thinking skills and be dedicated to protecting the rights of people with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
Current law student with excellent academic achievement, a demonstrated commitment to public interest/civil rights issues, and a desire to work on high impact litigation on behalf of people with disabilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and commitment to providing culturally competent services.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Highly motivated and responsible.
Familiarity with on-line research tools and conversant with Microsoft Office
