SEEKING EXPERIENCED ATTORNEY

Disability Rights Advocates (DRA), a national nonprofit disability rights firm specializing in precedent-setting and socially significant civil litigation, has a staff position available for a motivated attorney with at least 4-5 years of litigation experience (graduated 2003 or earlier), to work on a variety of high impact cases.

DRA is one of the preeminent disability rights firms in the nation. In the past 14 years, this ten-lawyer office has successfully litigated more class-action disability cases resulting in systemic change than any other law firm in America. DRA handles a wide range of issues such as access to transportation, education, employment, recreation, insurance and health care. We take on the giants and litigate against such entities as Kaiser Permanente, United Parcel Service, Macy's, Caltrans, the California Board of Bar Examiners and Target.com.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage significant litigation
  • knowledge of procedural and settlement strategies
  • Discovery experience (documents and depositions)
  • Experience with law and motion practice
  • Excellent academic credentials and analytical and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
  • Creativity and willingness to work as a team member
  • California Bar admission (or willingness to take California Bar Exam
  • Desire to change the world

Preference will be give to individuals with a demonstrated commitment to public interest. Experience with disability issues helpful but not essential. DRA is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity. Salary DOE plus excellent benefits.
