Disability Rights Advocates (DRA), a non-profit law center in Berkeley, California, is investigating the impact of the Washington State high school exit exam (Washington Assessment of Student Learning, WASL) on high school students with disabilities.
DRA is dedicated to protecting the rights of people with disabilities in all areas of life, including education accessibility for students with learning disabilities. Unless the WASL is shown to be a fair and valid test as applied to students in special education, it should not be used to deny these students their right to a diploma.
If you are a parent of a high school student with an IEP or 504 Plan, and are concerned about the WASL's impact on your student, please complete an online WASL impact survey.
