HAVE YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONES BEEN AFFECTED BY SANDY?

People with disabilities impacted by Sandy have reported a lack of evacuation, emergency shelters, and power outages, which left them stranded in their homes, without vital medical equipment, and prescription medications.

With your help we can put an end to this discrimination against men, women, children, and the elderly with disabilities to ensure that they do not face unnecessary harm in future disasters because of an absence of planning for people with disabilities. To share your personal stories, those of your loved ones, or those as first responders, volunteers or community clinics who assisted people with disabilities in need of help before, during, or after super storm Sandy, please contact:

Disability Rights Advocates (DRA), a non-profit legal center is a leading expert in the field of emergency planning for people with disabilities and is investigating the experiences of people with all types of disabilities, including the elderly before, during, and after Sandy. We also want to hear about the experiences of first responders, volunteers, and people who went into high-rises to assist people with disabilities who were affected by Sandy. We want to hear about what you or your loved ones experienced during this disaster – we aim to reform and improve the response for people with disabilities.
