Access to Public Entities and services

The Americans with Disabilities Act contains mandatory requirements that state and local public entities, such as public schools and universities, parks and other government services, evaluate all of their programs for accessibility to people with disabilities. Although these requirements were passed by Congress in 1990, many state and local entities throughout the country have failed to even begin work on these critical access obligations. Disability Rights Advocates has filed and resolved numerous cases involving state and local government programs and services, which have substantially increased access to public and civic life for people with disabilities.
