Staff Profile: Katherine Weed

Katherine Weed joined Disability Rights Advocates in 2007. Her practice focuses on high impact litigation in the areas of physical access, emergency preparedness, employment discrimination, and mental health. Ms. Weed is also involved in DRA's telecommunications project, which is working to ensure that people with disabilities have access to new technologies including broadband internet access. Before joining DRA, Ms. Weed worked as a litigation associate at Fraser Trebilcock Davis & Dunlap, P.C. in Detroit, Michigan, focusing on employment and labor litigation. Ms. Weed received her law degree in 2002 from the University of Michigan Law School and her B.A. in English Literature and Hispanic Studies from the University of Michigan in 1999. During law school, Ms. Weed worked at the Centre for Advice on Individual Rights in Europe (AIRE Centre, London, UK) in the area of international human rights, and she worked at Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Maine to secure rights of migrant farmworkers.

Ms. Weed is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
