Staff Profile: Elizabeth Leonard

Elizabeth Leonard joined Disability Rights Advocates in 2010 as the University of Pennsylvania's first public interest fellow. Her fellowship work focuses on ensuring equal access to technology for students with print disabilities within educational institutions.

Ms. Leonard received her B.A. in government in 2004 from Dartmouth College and her J.D. in 2010 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

During law school Ms. Leonard was a senior editor for the Journal of International Law, a research assistant for a published article about the social welfare safety net, a mentor in the Public Interest Mentoring Initiative, and participated in the mediation and civil practice clinics.

In 2008, Ms. Leonard was awarded an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Fellowship to work for the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, affiliated with The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law where she specialized in disability advocacy in public education and community services. The following summer, Ms. Leonard worked for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs in Washington, D.C. where she focused exclusively on cases within the Disability Rights Project.
